Guardian Intensive Outpatient Program
Our Locations in Florida and New Jersey

Guardian currently offers its intensive outpatient programming at 3 Locations — two in New Jersey, and one in Florida:

Our Locations Include:

  • Hoboken, New Jersey – The Guardian IOP location in Hoboken is about 15 minutes north of Jersey City, just across the water from lower Manhattan. The convenient location makes it easy for clients to attend from the many urban areas surrounding Hoboken. Clients can easily attend to work or school while continuing on their recovery journeys.
  • New Brunswick, New Jersey – Guardian’s IOP program in New Brunswick, NJ takes place in a beautiful, Victorian style home in a nice neighborhood. The serene, homey atmosphere aids clients in getting comfortable and vulnerable.
  • Delray Beach, Florida – Guardian’s IOP program in Delray Beach, Florida is just a short drive to the beach in the heart of what has been called the “Recovery Capital of America.” Delray Beach earned this name for its strong, active and supportive recovery community. Delray Beach is a great place to enjoy the sunshine while strengthening the foundation of your recovery.

Guardian’s IOP programs are comprehensive and individualized, and consist of a combination of individual therapy, group therapy and family therapy as well as additional recovery-related services like 12-step program immersion, relapse prevention training and employment assistance. Substance abuse and dependence affects people in different ways. Because of this, addiction recovery should never be a one-size-fits-all process, and should always be individualized to fit the unique needs of each client.

  • 12-step program education and immersion – We require our clients to attend off-site 12 step meetings on a daily basis while actively working through the 12 steps with a sponsor.
  • Demographic-specific programming, including gender-specific and age-specific treatment – Our IOP program is broken down by gender and by age, allowing for a more focused treatment experience.
  • Thorough and individualized aftercare planning – While every aftercare plan will be individualized, most plans for continuing care include a continuation of 12-step program involvement, a continuation of therapy and psychiatric services whenever necessary.
  • Vocational training – We teach our clients how to build-our professional resumes, interview for jobs and choose a job that is recovery-appropriate.
  • Educational opportunities – Many of our clients wish to take advantage of the educational opportunities unique to Southern Florida – we encourage our clients to finish schooling if they wish to do so, and help them apply and stay committed.
  • Fitness programs and nutritional services – In order to maintain sobriety, clients must learn to take care of themselves comprehensively, taking care of their physical bodies as well as their mental and emotional well-being.

The key difference between residential treatment and an IOP is flexible scheduling and a greater amount of personal freedom. Clients are able to return home every night once treatment concludes, and if they have jobs or other personal obligations, IOP can be scheduled around those obligations. For people in recovery, IOP restores a sense of normalcy and the return to a daily schedule and routine without sacrificing individualized, intensive treatment.

Our Delray Beach, Florida location is centrally located, and Southern Florida itself is conducive to comprehensive healing and rich in recovery-related resources. IOP allows clients to explore these resources on their own time, taking advantage of the numerous daily 12-step meetings and recovery-oriented support groups throughout the area.

  • Vocational training – We help and still clients with the skills they need to obtain a job and successfully work full-time or part-time.

The main difference between residential treatment and IOP is an increased amount of flexibility and personal freedom. We understand that not everyone can commit to a three month inpatient treatment program. Some of our clients have dependents or prior obligations that they cannot completely step away from. In cases like these, IOP is an ideal option – it is always better to receive some level of clinical care than no treatment at all. However, we always recommend that our New Jersey IOP program serves as part of a comprehensive continuum of care, acting as an additional resource for those who have already completed inpatient treatment.

Why is IOP Necessary?

It is not uncommon for men and women who recently completed a long-term program of residential care to eagerly anticipate a return to normal day-to-day life. However, entering into an IOP program upon inpatient treatment program completion is necessary. Once an individual completes inpatient treatment, he or she will begin implementing the life skills and coping mechanisms learned and inpatient treatment in a real life setting. IOP provides individuals who are new to sobriety with the opportunity to process the challenges and hurdles that go hand-in-hand with early recovery in a supportive environment, among their peers.

Our Simple Admissions Process

If you or someone you love has been suffering at the hands of a mild substance abuse disorder and is in need of additional support and a less intensive level of clinical care than is provided by traditional inpatient treatment, our IOP program is an ideal solution. Our admissions process is simple and straightforward. Whether you have recently completed a higher level of care or you are looking for addiction treatment that allows a higher level of personal freedom than residential rehab, give us a call today 24/7 at (888) 693-1894 for more information.
