Guardian IOP Addiction Treatment
Outpatient Rehab Services
At Guardian IOP we provide outpatient rehab treatment services that are ideal for men and women struggling with substance abuse disorder who are serious about getting and staying sober but who might not require an intensive, residential program of clinical care. Our outpatient program meets several times a week for several hours each day, allowing for a highly flexible – yet intensive and effective – program of recovery. Clients are able to tend to their personal obligations and return home every evening while being held accountable and slowly transitioning back into fully independent living. Our outpatient services utilize a combination of proven therapeutic methods and holistic approaches in order in order to provide our clients with integrated and personalized care. We also offer a wide range of outpatient services, which are further detailed below.
The comprehensive IOP services we offer include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (also referred to as CBT) is a proven and widely-used psychoactive treatment method that can benefit individuals who are suffering from anxiety, depression, panic attacks and substance abuse disorders. This therapeutic method helps individuals identify and effectively change self-destructive and damaging thought patterns that negatively affect emotions and behaviors. Many individuals who suffer from substance abuse will experience automatic and intrusive thoughts. Not only do these negative thoughts impact mood but they can contribute to the worsening of emotional issues related to substance abuse. In CBT, clients learn how to identify these thoughts and replace them with more realistic thoughts that will contribute to healing rather than self-destruction. These therapeutic sessions typically involve a range of strategies, including role-playing, relaxation techniques, journaling and mindfulness meditation.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (referred to as DBT) is an effective type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that further helps our clients regulate their emotions effectively, learning to cope with stress and ultimately improving the quality of their interpersonal relationships. Dialectics is a philosophically-based process that suggests true change can only occur when there is an open “dialogue” between the client and the issues that are holding the client back. Clients work one-on-one with a licensed therapist in order to break through whatever barriers stand in the way of deep and lasting change. This evidence-based psychotherapeutic method is typically utilized in a one-on-one setting, though some of our group sessions also focus on DBT.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a method of psychotherapy geared towards helping individuals overcome the devastating and disruptive symptoms that go hand-in-hand with unresolved trauma. Our licensed EMDR specialist works with one client at a time, directing lateral eye movements in order to access traumatic memories that have been subconsciously buried over time. These traumatic memories are then worked through thoroughly, and as this information is processed, clients begin to experience reduced stress levels, a reformulation of negative beliefs and a deep emotional healing that would not have otherwise been possible.
The EMDR Institute explains that between 84 and 90 percent of single-trauma victims who were treated with EMDR no longer experience symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder after undergoing three separate 90-minute sessions. The study also suggests that over 100,000 licensed clinicians currently utilize this therapeutic method, and that over the course of the past 25 years millions of people have been effectively treated. While we do understand that different treatment methods work for different clients, many of our clients who suffer from unresolved trauma have experienced great success in their EMDR sessions.
Our Lifeskills Training program focuses on helping clients develop the skills they need to go on and live healthy and fulfilling lives as successful members of society. We focus on the development of a wide range of vital skills, from healthy communication, critical thinking and engaged learning to working towards financial independence and maintaining physical health through nutrition and exercise. Our Lifeskills Training program is individualized to cater to the unique needs of each client. Our main goal is preparing each client for the challenges they are liable to face in everyday life. For example, one client might need to pay special attention to budgeting and saving money, while another client might need to pay special attention to critical thinking. No matter what areas of life you or your loved one needs to work on, Guardian IOP is available to help.
Intensive individual and group therapy sessions are the backbone of our therapeutically-based outpatient treatment program. Clients have access to at least one individual therapy session every week as well as numerous group therapy sessions. An individual therapy, clients have the opportunity to work through their personal issues and the unique challenges they are facing in a safe and supportive setting. In group therapy, pertinent topics are addressed and clients have the opportunity to offer and accept peer support while further honing communication skills.
Our Drug & Alcohol Treatment Services Include
Our licensed therapeutic team developed a Family Workshop, designed to provide more intensive healing to the loved ones of our clients. Our family workshop takes place over the course of three days, and includes a deeper dive into addiction education, the restoration of healthy family functioning and a thorough explanation of the coping tools that family members will need to help support their loved one through early recovery. This is an important part of our comprehensive outpatient treatment program, seeing as many of our clients continue to live at home while they undergo this phase of the recovery process. It is important that everyone feels safe and supported at home, and that all members of the family are simultaneously working towards a return to mental and emotional health.
At Guardian IOP we utilize Yoga Therapy as part of our comprehensive holistic treatment program. Yoga has proven to be extremely beneficial as part of an integrated outpatient program for several reasons. Yoga works to facilitate stress relief, increase self-awareness, improve self-confidence, improve the quality of sleep, increase energy levels, facilitate pain relief and contribute to overall health and wellness. We work closely with licensed yoga therapists who instruct small yoga sessions out of our facility several times a month, paying special attention to the specific needs of each individual client.

Continuing care is a crucial piece of every effective addiction treatment program. Also called aftercare, continuing care focuses on helping clients develop a plan of action once outpatient treatment has concluded. Most continuing care plans will include a continuation of daily 12-step program involvement, participation in individual therapy sessions, ongoing psychiatric services for clients who have underlying mental health conditions and medication management services whenever necessary. numerous studies point to the fact that men and women who participate in continuing care are far less likely to experience relapse within the first year of their sobriety.
