Guardian Intensive Outpatient Program
Alcohol Rehab Program

Alcohol use disorder is a chronic disease characterized by an inability to control drinking, a physical and psychological dependence on alcohol and continued use of alcohol despite an accumulation of related consequences. As it stands, alcohol abuse is one of the largest public health threats that Americans face. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 85.6 percent of men and women over the age of 18 reported that they had consumed alcohol at least once during their lifetime. 25.8 percent of men and women over the age of 18 reported that they had engaged in binge drinking within the past month, and an estimated 14.1 million American adults had a diagnosable alcohol use disorder. Of these 14.1 million adults, an estimated 8.9 million were men and 5.2 million were women. despite the exceedingly high rates of alcohol use throughout the United states, it is estimated that only 7.9 percent of adults in need of addiction treatment receive any kind of clinical care. This is not because resources aren’t available – according to an accumulation of facts and statistics published by Statista, in the year 2018 alone there were 14,809 substance abuse treatment facilities throughout the United States. Substance abuse treatment takes many different forms, and can involve individual and group therapy, Medication Assisted Treatment, short-term residential care, long-term residential care, intensive outpatient treatment or outpatient treatment.

At Guardian IOP we offer a comprehensive and highly individualized outpatient treatment program for men and women who have been suffering at the hands of a mild or moderate alcohol abuse disorder. Our outpatient treatment program is ideal for individuals who have recently completed a higher level of clinical care, or who have been abusing alcohol for a short period of time and have not yet experienced a wide range of personal consequences. Outpatient alcohol rehab offers flexibility and a higher level of personal freedom than more intensive treatment options. For more information contact us today.

What is Outpatient Alcohol Rehab?

Outpatient programs are ideal for men and women who have recently completed a higher level of clinical care (medically monitored detox and inpatient treatment) and who are looking for additional support and accountability as they transition back into independent living. In many instances, outpatient treatment is coupled with sober living housing. After completing a medical detox program, your clinical team will help you determine whether inpatient or outpatient treatment is the best option for you. This decision will be based upon your mental health, your existing family support, how severe your substance abuse disorder is, your financial capability and your current living situation. For example, an individual who lives at home with an extremely supportive and functional family and who has been struggling with a mild substance abuse disorder might be an ideal candidate for outpatient treatment.

At Guardian IOP our comprehensive program of outpatient alcohol rehab allows clients to return home every evening while offering them an intensive therapeutic treatment plan that covers physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual healing. Our outpatient program consists of between two and three group therapy sessions every week. Clients have access to one-on-one therapy sessions with a licensed and experienced therapist, and these sessions typically take place once a week. Family therapy sessions and additional family-oriented resources and services are also made available. Clients will have the opportunity to openly discuss the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis in early recovery in a controlled group environment. This allows for additional support, both from clinical staff members and from peers. Having the ability to dive deeper into recovery-related challenges in a therapeutic group setting is extremely beneficial.

In order for outpatient treatment to be truly effective, it must be combined with an outside 12-step support group like Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. It is also important that our clients have a stable place to live where they can easily avoid drugs and alcohol, and that they have support from loved ones and a group of sober friends.

Outpatient Rehab for Women and Men Who Have Been Abusing Alcohol

Our program of outpatient alcohol rehab focuses on a wide range of recovery related issues, effectively tackling all of these issues in group therapy and continuing to teach clients the tools and skills they need in order to maintain sobriety for years to come. Some of the alcohol rehab services we provide as part of our integrated outpatient program include:

  • Individual, group and family therapy
  • The development of crucial life skills
  • Relapse prevention training
  • A combination of effective therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization
  • Gender-specific and age-specific programming
  • Breathwork therapy
  • Yoga therapy
  • Equine therapy
  • Experiential therapy, which includes art therapy, music therapy and psychodrama
  • 12-step program education and immersion
  • Dual diagnosis treatment options for men and women who have been simultaneously struggling with a mental health concern
  • Vocational training and education placement
  • A focus on nutritional therapy and fitness

Essentially, our outpatient alcohol rehab program is a less intensive version of our traditional IOP program. We offer all of the same services, but they are condensed into shorter periods of time. This level of care allows for full or part-time work, returning to school or caring for dependents full-time.

Is Outpatient Rehab for Alcoholism Right For Me?

It can be difficult to determine whether or not outpatient alcohol rehab is an ideal choice for you and your unique needs. If an alcohol abuse disorder is moderate or severe, we always encourage that outpatient treatment is preceded by medically monitored detox and inpatient alcohol rehab. However, outpatient rehab is likely a great standalone option if any of the following apply to you:

  • Your alcohol abuse disorder is mild, meaning that it has not yet severely disrupted your life and you have not yet suffered severe interpersonal consequences as a direct result.
  • You live in an environment where you can easily stay away from drugs and alcohol.
  • You cannot afford to take an extended leave of absence from your current job.
  • You are not currently insured through a major regional or national provider, and you cannot afford to pay for inpatient treatment or intensive outpatient treatment out-of-pocket.
  • You have recently completed inpatient treatment and are looking to continue on in the next appropriate step of clinical care as you slowly transition back into fully independent living.
  • You are the primary caretaker of one or more dependents, and you need to be readily available.

If you are still unsure whether or not outpatient alcohol rehab is an ideal fit, feel free to reach out to our treatment team at any point in time. We are standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you in any and every way possible – we will gladly conduct a brief assessment, and help you determine which level of clinical care will best benefit you and suit your unique needs.
